Whitley Central Primary and Intermediate School would like to extend a big thank you to Sydnee Floyd. Sydnee is a former Whitley County student, founder, and Executive Director of the nonprofit organization Jumbled Dreams. In 2018, at the age of 13, Sydnee made it her goal in life to help others. She has raised money for numerous causes and in multiple venues. She has given funds to the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society. Sydnee has made a global impact through sponsoring a little girl in Nicaragua and by purchasing school supplies for a classroom in Uganda. She has also helped purchase shoes, socks, and backpacks filled with school supplies to over 500 kids in Tennessee.
We are proud of the work Sydnee has done and want to recognize her for the contributions she has made to our school and community this August. When asked about her recent donations, Sydnee said, “My final personal project for the summer was to give back to the school that helped me really realize my passion for helping others. Over the summer months, I collected school supplies from generous donors from all over Williamson County in Tennessee to give to school children who needed it the most. I have been collecting school supplies for four years, but this year was my largest collection, over 7,000 items! It was the perfect birthday gift, my 16th birthday, to travel back to my hometown in Whitley County and hand over a van full of supplies for the kids. I really saw my dreams come true and I really felt like we helped change lives.”
Ronald Reagan can be quoted saying, “We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone.” There is no doubt Sydnee has made an impact through her service to others. Congratulations Sydnee! Your Whitley County family sure is proud of you!
