“Every pet looks like fun, so how in the world do you pick just one?” That is a good question! The students at WCIS took this opportunity to make a meaningful impact in our community. In collaboration with the Read to Achieve grant, the Family Resource Center, and Knox-Whitley Animal Shelter students participated in a coin drive and collected/donated supplies for the animal shelter. Through the coin drive WCIS was able to sponsor 3 pet adoptions and collect more than $150 in pet supplies for the shelter to use.
Theresa Martin, a volunteer at Knox-Whitley Animal Shelter, accompanied by Kota, a terrier mix, spent the afternoon educating students about the importance of spaying/neutering your pets, pet care and responsibilities, and answering questions about the shelter. Since her visit, Kota has found her forever home.
Thank you Whitley Central Intermediate School for demonstrating service leads to excellence. We are proud of our Cardinals!
