Whitley County has an established and successful

volunteer program

  1.     PAVE (Parents As Volunteer Educators) is an established and successful volunteer program organized and maintained by Sarita Floyd, Title I School/Home/Community Liaison.  Volunteers are required to sign-up through PAVE and complete forms before becoming a volunteer.

  2.     The main goal of PAVE is to encourage parents, guardians, relatives, and community members to become volunteer educators.

  3.     Cooperation among parents, teachers, community, and business partners fosters a team effort and enables schools to maximize instructional time and resources for students.  They become team members in education!

  4. Documented volunteer hours make a tremendous impact in the success of parent and community involvement programs. We also use volunteer hours on consolidated plans, school report cards, and during local and state volunteer recognitions. Grant writers also use documented volunteer hours to help bring more funding into our schools.

  5.     The safety of our students and everyone in our school buildings is a must.  Criminal background reports are obtained on all volunteers before they are allowed to participate in any school activity.

One of the hallmarks of a successful school system is the

active participation of parent and community volunteers.
