District Recognized for Excellence

Bronze Metal Distinction

At a recent South East/South Central Co-Op meeting, the Whitley County School District received numerous honors for outstanding academic  performance as measured by the state accountability system, bringing home a total of 16 banners. Whitley County High School, Whitley County Middle School, Oak Grove Elementary, Whitley Central Intermediate, Whitley East Elementary, Pleasant View Elementary and Boston Elementary received banners designating them as Distinguished Schools. The Whitley County School District overall was also recognized for being a Distinguished District. Whitley County Middle School, Whitley Central Intermediate, Oak Grove Elementary, Whitley East Elementary, Pleasant View Elementary and Boston Elementary were recognized for being Schools of Distinction. Also, the Whitley County District and Whitley East Elementary received banners  designating them as a Bronze district and elementary school. The Bronze distinction indicates that the District and Whitley East Elementary had the 3rd highest test scores in the entire SESC region. This year’s accountability scores show the Whitley County School District as being the 13th highest ranking school district in the state.
